Join us on March 21 from 9:00 am - 12:00pm and help mulch the Mill Mountain Playground. Meet at the covered picnic pavilion near the playground. Mulch and tools are being provided; bring work gloves if you wish. Lite refreshments and snacks will also be provided We are doing this project as a show of appreciation for the City of Roanoke allowing us to "auction" the Mill Mountain Star as part of last year's KPAD.
Meet at Hope Tree Family Services picnic shelter off of Oak Lane at 9:00am on May 18. Join kids from the West End Center for a fun time fishing, and have lunch. Volunteers will sign in the kids, guide fishing groups, interact with the kids, clean fish, and help with the cookout. Volunteers should wear outdoor fishing/clothing and sturdy shoes. Sunscreen, hat, and camera are good ideas.
Join fellow Kiwanians as we participate in the Daisy Art Parade on April 13 to promote our Kiwanis Club and this year's KPAD. This is a family fun and easy parade route. We will meet at 11:00am behind the Taubman and proceed down Market Street to Elmwood Park. Come dressed in your Kiwanis shirts and wear a Kiwanis hat or funny/artistic hat. We will march carrying our Kiwanis banner and hand out flyers. This event is part of our Club's efforts to Outreach into our community. We are looking for a big crowd of Kiwanis members and the public to attend the Mill Mountain Star Dedication ceremony. We will be unveiling to the public the new plaque honoring the winner of this year's Kiwanis Star auction, Bower Heating and Air Conditioning. The Mayor and other dignitaries are expected. The press is invited. The dedication ceremony begins at 11:00am at the Star visitor platform. This is an excellent opportunity to invite a guest to see some of what makes our Club special.

This year's Fun Day will be held on Saturday, June 1 at the Melrose Library and the Envision Center (old Melrose Library) from 11 AM - 3 PM. It will feature multiple agency and organizational activities and entertainment for children and adults, and food and drink will be provided to an anticipated 1,000 people in the immediate area.Therefore, we will need 8 - 10 Kiwanians to help with shelter/tent set up and take down, the distribution of portable cardboard trash cans and other such activities beginning at 8 AM that morning. We also need volunteers throughout the day at a Kiwanis exhibit table and at the Nature Park and the Welcome table.
