We are looking for a big crowd of Kiwanis members and the public to attend the Mill Mountain Star Dedication ceremony. We will be unveiling to the public the new plaque honoring the winner of this year's Kiwanis Star auction, Bower Heating and Air Conditioning. The Mayor and other dignitaries are expected. The press is invited. The dedication ceremony begins at 11:00am at the Star visitor platform. This is an excellent opportunity to invite a guest to see some of what makes our Club special.
The deadline to volunteer for a committee is September 30. The Directory will be published in October. Now, on with the committee volunteering. All forty committees for next year have been established and each has a volunteer leader. Now it is your turn. This year's Fun Day will be held on Saturday, June 1 at the Melrose Library and the Envision Center (old Melrose Library) from 11 AM - 3 PM. It will feature multiple agency and organizational activities and entertainment for children and adults, and food and drink will be provided to an anticipated 1,000 people in the immediate area.Therefore, we will need 8 - 10 Kiwanians to help with shelter/tent set up and take down, the distribution of portable cardboard trash cans and other such activities beginning at 8 AM that morning. We also need volunteers throughout the day at a Kiwanis exhibit table and at the Nature Park and the Welcome table. Join our Officer Installation dinner under a picnic shelter overlooking Carvins Cove from 5:00-7:10pm. We will thank our outgoing Officer and Directors, install our new Officer and Directors, recognize the efforts of our continuing directors, listen to remarks from our outgoing President, and listen to remarks from our incoming President.
