WEST END HOLIDAY WRAPPING

Volunteer to help wrap gifts for children at the West End Center for Youth. This is a fun and popular way to get into the holiday spirit while helping others. We will meet at the SERVEPRO of Roanoke County located at 1301 Southside Drive in Salem to begin wrapping at 6:00pm on Tuesday December 12. Each wrapper will be given wrapping supplies and a bag of gifts to be wrapped or a specific young boy or girl. Gifts will be given to the children at the Holiday Party held during the December 13 Kiwanis Club meeting.

We will meet at the Clearbrook Walmart to begin shopping at 7:30am on Saturday December 9. Each shopper will be allocated a fixed amount of money to spend, and given a gift list personalized for a specific young boy or girl.

Meet at the Goodwill picnic shelter at 2502 Melrose Avenue for a bit of weeding in the Pollinator Garden and a bit of trash picking up at the Kiwanis Nature Park. Hope you can join us. We will put a hoe or shovel in your hands with work gloves to remove those invasive weeds. Arrive at 8:30 am for a muffin, quick instructions, and chance to work with your friends. Afterwards - how about if we cool off together with an ice cream at Blue Cow?

IRONMAN

IRONMAN

Join us to help with athlete registration. The registration tent is located at River's Edge Park North. Volunteer for the morning shift from 8:00am to 1:00pm or/and the afternoon shift from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Assist checking-in athletes during the registration process. Health Screening will also be incorporated into this shift. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ID Check, mask and stylus distribution, QR code scanning, screening questionnaire validation, and temperature checks. Volunteers may also act as runners between primary and secondary screening as needed. Anyone can register using the official Ironman site as part of our Kiwanis Club using the link below.

GROW SEEDS

Join us immediately following the January 25 Kiwanis Club meeting at 1:30pm for a half-hour community service project. We will meet in Charter Hall to plant wildflower seeds in potting soil in empty jugs. The seeds and potting soil will be supplied. Participants are asked to bring clean and empty gallon or ½ gallon jugs, bring sharp scissors or exacto knive, and to take the filled jugs jugs home for the seedlings to grow. Planting will occur in the Kiwanis Nature Park Wildflower Garden in the Spring.

Join the Clean Valley Council for an MLK Service Day from 11am-1pm on January 16 to clean up litter in the Melrose neighborhood. Meet at the picnic shelter next to Horton Park at 2500 Salem Turnpike. All clean up supplies will be provided.
