The movie Centers on America's civic unraveling through the journey of scientist Robert Putnam, whose research on the decline in American community lights a path out of our democracy's present crisis. The Junior League of Roanoke Valley is excited to participate in the third annual International Find the Good Day, created by the Association of Junior Leagues International, is dedicated to finding the good in yourself, your community, and the world around you. Meet at 6:30pm on August 22 for dinner. Please RSVP by August 20. As a final wrap to a wonderful year let's have a cookout for past presidents and spouse/guest. There will be hamburgers on the grill and ice tea chilling. Please bring a side, vegetable or desert and your favorite adult beverage. Don't forget your spouse or guest.

We are looking for a big crowd of Kiwanis members and the public to attend the Mill Mountain Star Dedication ceremony. We will be unveiling to the public the new plaque honoring Susan Williams (the Executive Director of LOA who was attacked and killed in February 2025 while helping someone in need). Susan spent her life in service to those less fortunate, the forgotten, and the underserved. Her dedication to supporting the vulnerable population shone through her passionate advocacy for Meals on Wheels. She championed efforts to ensure that homebound individuals received nutritious meals and also a vital social connect. Join us at Carilion Children's Tanglewood on August 9 from 10:00am-2:000pm for Cuts with Cops. This incredible partnership with Roanoke County Police, Roanoke County Sheriff's Office, and Carilion Clinics helps hundreds of local kids access free haircuts, back-to-school supplies, and free shoes. We will be distributing backpacks with back-to-school supplies.
