Fun Committee event. Socialize and enjoy a Rail Yard Dawgs hockey game on Friday January 8; arrive by 6:30pm to grab some food and socialize, the puck drops at 7:05pm. We have a block of 23 seats reserved close to the ice where the action takes place. Club members and guests are invited. Non-refundable tickets must be purchased through our Club no later than December 29; they are $24 each. On site parking is available at the Berglund Center for $10.00 per vehicle; advance parking purchase directly from the Berglund Center is recommended. Alternately, a free shuttle runs from/to the free parking in the Elmwood Park Garage at 201 Tazewell Ave SE.

Melissa Woodson, Director of RAM House, requests assistance with the final phase of preparing RAM House. Starting on Tuesday, September 1st, Kiwanians teams of volunteers will move canned goods by dolly from shipping containers to their permanent location in RAM House. We need people to unpack the containers and people to take the items by dolly down the alley to the RAM House for final storage. We will do this for two hours per day, starting Tuesday, September 1st at 1 pm each day until we have emptied the two containers (anticipated completion date is September 11 or earlier). Volunteer to help wrap gifts for children at the West End Center for Youth. This is a fun and popular way to get into the holiday spirit while helping others. We will meet at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church (1837 Grandin Rd) to begin wrapping at 5:30pm. Each wrapper will be given wrapping supplies and a bag of gifts to be wrapped for a specific young boy or girl. Gifts will be given to the children at the Holiday Party held during the Kiwanis Club meeting.

Each shopper will be allocated a fixed amount of money to spend, and given a gift list personalized for a specific young boy or girl.
The Kiwanis Club of Roanoke and the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce are holding a members only Roanoke City Council Candidates Forum from 11:00am-1:00pm on September 17. This event is being held in the Jefferson Center. The media will be invited. Lunch will be provided. Admission is $29.00. Registration is required in advance. No walk-ins. Roanoke City Council Candidates will respond to previously prepared questions; WSLS 10 News Anchor John Carlin will moderate the event. The event will not include an audience Q&A session. Each candidate will have a fixed time to address each question and for follow-up comments.
