Come hear the results of the research students at Roanoke College of Environmental Studies performed, under the direction of Dr. Laura Hartman, of the Kiwanis Nature Park. This presentation is being hosted from 6:00-7:30pm on December 3 at the Clean Valley Council as part of their Sustainability Series. Roanoke College students spent a semester investigating the natural and human elements of the Kiwanis Nature Park. They will share their observations and they will share recommendations. Meet at 9:00 on November 5th at Preston Park, 3137 Preston Ave NW, Roanoke, VA 24012. Members of our Kiwanis Environment committee will join the Roanoke City Tree Stewards to plant 5 trees that have been purchased by our Club. Bring work gloves and wear sturdy shoes. Shovels, digging bars, soil amendment, mulch, tree supports, and trees will be provided.

Fun Committee event. Socialize and enjoy a Rail Yard Dawgs hockey game on Thursday January 8; arrive by 6:30pm to grab some food and socialize, the puck drops at 7:05pm. We have a block of 22 seats reserved close to the ice where the action takes place. Club members and guests are invited. Non-refundable tickets must be purchased through our Club no later than December 29; they are $24 each. On site parking is available at the Berglund Center for $10.00 per vehicle; advance parking purchase directly from the Berglund Center is recommended. Alternately, a free shuttle runs from/to the free parking in the Elmwood Park Garage at 201 Tazewell Ave SE.
