FALL FESTIVAL – Melrose Plaza
Kiwanis Outreach Opportunity on Saturday October 18th. Fall Festival at the Melrose Plaza. Check in at Melrose Library: 2502 Melrose Ave in Roanoke. Volunteers needed to work our Club's exhibit table from 9am to 2 pm. While at the festival, be sure to check out the Kiwanis Nature Park progress that recently has been made and check out all that Melrose Plaza now has to offer.
FUN SOCIAL – Explore Park
Fun Committee event. Socialize and enjoy time together at Explore Park; you can opt to hike or bike on the trails, stroll through the buildings, and enjoy the Fall colors. Afterwards, we will meet at 5:30pm for drinks in Brugh Tavern, followed at 6:00pm with dinner in their upstairs dining room. Afterwards, at 7:00pm, we can enjoy desert outside by the fire.
WEST END CENTER SPOOKY SPRINT
Join us to volunteer at the West End Center on October 25 from 7:45am - 12:00pm for their family-friendly 5K and costume walk/run Spooky Sprint fall fundraiser at Wasena ParkWasena. Volunteers were serve as course marshals and Bouncy House managers. This is the same organization the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke supports with our annual Holiday Party. Should be fun for all.
DOCUMENTARY MOVIE SCREENING
Join the Junior League of Roanoke, members of our Kiwanis Club, and the public, for a free screening at the Grandin Theater on September 16 at 7:00pm of the movie Join or Die. The movie Centers on America's civic unraveling through the journey of scientist Robert Putnam, whose research on the decline in American community lights a path out of our democracy's present crisis. The Junior League of Roanoke Valley is excited to participate in the third annual International Find the Good Day, created by the Association of Junior Leagues International, is dedicated to finding the good in yourself, your community, and the world around you. Kiwanis International is hosting Celebrate Community Week from September 14-20. Use this link below to reserve a seat for the movie.
CLEAN UP DAY
Meet at 10:00 on November 8th at the Goodwill Pavilion located 2502 Melrose Avenue (next to the Kiwanis Nature Park and the Horton's Branch watershed). We will use provided grabbers, trash bags, and vests to clean up the Park and neighborhood; will finish by 12:00 noon.
