Meet at the Kiwanis Nature Park to help with some Spring effort in the pollinator garden. We will have 50 small plants to put in the garden. That is the main focus, getting those babies in the ground. Maintenance and weeding comes second. Bring your shovels, work gloves and sunscreen. We have an auger to help with digging if needed. This should be a fun and productive activity for all ages.
Fun Committee event. Socialize at Stoney Brook Vineyards on June 28 from 1-5pm. Reservations required. $15 per person includes lunch with sides, Kiwanis cookies, and live music from Mark Folks. Wine will be available to purchase. Bring your own chair, and bring a pop-up if you can. This will be a good time to enjoy each other's company. This will also be a good time to invite a non-Kiwanian so they can see the fun side of our Club. Sign up required.
Our Club's Fun Committee has made arrangements to enjoy a baseball game at the Salem Red Sox. Gates open ay 6:00pm, we will sing the pre-game National Anthem at 6:45pm. We have a group of tickets reserved for advance purchase for us to sit together. Tickets are $11 each. Should be a FUN night at the ballpark. Wear a Kiwanian shirt or hat. This is an excellent opportunity to invite a guest to see some of what makes our Club special.
Volunteer to help wrap gifts for children at the West End Center for Youth. This is a fun and popular way to get into the holiday spirit while helping others. We will meet at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church (1837 Grandin Rd) to begin wrapping at 5:30pm. Each wrapper will be given wrapping supplies and a bag of gifts to be wrapped for a specific young boy or girl. Gifts will be given to the children at the Holiday Party held during the Kiwanis Club meeting.
Volunteer to help shop for gifts for children at the West End Center for Youth. This is a fun and popular way to get into the holiday spirit while helping others. We will meet at the Clearbrook Walmart to begin shopping at 7:30am. Each shopper will be allocated a fixed amount of money to spend, and given a gift list personalized for a specific young boy or girl.
Every year we ring the bell to raise funds for the Salvation Army and we are looking for volunteers to help out every Friday during Dickens of a Christmas in downtown Roanoke. Shifts last one hour starting at 6pm and ending at 9pm. We like to have two people per shift.
Join us for a social time at the Adult Care Center of Roanoke Valley. We will meet at 11:30am to set up, serve, and join the participants to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. The Kiwanis Club of Roanoke was instrumental in the founding of this community resource 40 years ago, and have been actively supporting it ever since. Wear a blue Kiwanis cap if you can.
Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke Board of Directors. We are holding our annual training session for new Board members. During this session we will review the responsibilities of Kiwanis Club board members, review the official sources of Kiwanis Board member information, and spend time addressing questions/comments from new board members. The hour-long session is scheduled to immediately follow the Board meeting.
