Fun Committee event. Socialize at the Green Goat restaurant on August 25 from 5:30-8:00pm; we will go to Blue Cow for some ice cream afterwards. No cost is involved beyond what you order and pay for individually. This will be a good time to enjoy each other's company. Brings your kids and family members. This will also be a good time to invite a non-Kiwanian so they can see the fun side of our Club.
Join us as we build beds for the Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization from 8:30am-12:30pm on October 10 at their 622 Mohawk Avenue location. All tools and materials will be provided. No skills necessary. On-site instruction will be provided. SLHP is a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. A registration link will be posted here one month prior to the event.
Offsite for Club leadership to plan for upcoming year. Board members and selected Committee Chairs meet from 10:30am to 1:30pm in the Western Virginia Water Authority Board room. A short board meeting will be followed by the planning session. Invitation only.
We are looking for a big crowd of Kiwanis members and the public to attend the Mill Mountain Star Dedication ceremony. We will be unveiling to the public the new plaque honoring Nancy Agee (former CEO of Carilion Clinic); she will give emphasis to the nursing profession. The Mayor and other dignitaries are expected. The press is invited. The dedication ceremony begins at 10:00am at the Star visitor platform. This is an excellent opportunity to invite a guest to see some of what makes our Club special.

The Roanoke Region is hosting USA Cycling Mountain Bike Races during the week of July 12-19. Our Kiwanis Club is signed up to provide volunteers to help with this event that will welcome athletes and families from across the country to experience the world-class mountain bike riding that Roanoke has to offer. The week features a Marathon race at Hollins University & Carvins Cove, Short Track National Championships at Elmwood Park in Downtown Roanoke, and Cross-Country National Championships at Explore Park.
