SUMMARY:BLUE RIDGE MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:Our Kiwanis Club is providing volunteers again this year to run a Blue Ridge Marathon Aid Station. We will hand out drinks and enthusiastically encourage runners. Our aid station is located part way up Roanoke Mountain. The shift starts at 6:45 and ends around 10:45 AM. You can drive up to the Aid Station by taking the Roanoke Mountain Parkway (on the right off the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of the intersection with Mill Mountain Parkway). Volunteers must be in place before the Blue Ridge Parkway closes at 7:00 AM. \nUse the link below to register. Scroll down to Aid Station-BRP Roanoke Mtn hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke. Check the box and click the Volunteer button. This will take you to the registration page. The Task Password is “kiwanis” all lower case. If you would like to sign up for a different task\, scroll up to see other opportunities (no Task Password needed for those). SUMMARY:EARTH DAY BOOTH
DESCRIPTION:Our Environment committee is partnering with Clean Valley Council to celebrate Earth Day on April 18 from 10am – 3:00pm with a Kiwanis booth at the celebration event in historic Grandin Village. This is an exciting outreach activity to share information about our Club’s environmental efforts and our Nature Park. Larry the Logperch will be featured. Volunteers are being recruited for shifts to staff our booth. \nThis vibrant gathering is dedicated to promoting sustainability and building community connections. Featuring eco-conscious vendors\, talented local artisans\, diverse businesses\, live entertainment\, and engaging activities for children\, the event inspires environmental stewardship and fosters a sense of togetherness. The 2025 Earth Day theme\, “Come Together For Planet Earth” emphasizing the collective responsibility to transition to renewable energy sources and create a sustainable future.
