Work between 10:00 and 11:00 to fill those orange trash bags with litter that threatens our precious environment and our Larry the Logperch endangered species. Afterwards\, join those of us headed to Chris’ Coffee and Custard restaurant on Ninth Street to reward ourselves for yet again showing that Kiwanis Cares and Makes a Difference.

SUMMARY:Bocce Ball Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Bocce Ball Tournament with music\, drinks\, a “grab & go” lunch\, and fun. We will also have a costume contest where the best dressed team wins (team member costumes do not have to match). No experience necessary. We will play on the Roanoke Catholic and Valley AFC Soccer Complex located at 1555 13th Street\, SE. Registration required in advance or on-site:  $50 for each team of two Kiwanis Club members\, $25 for each team of two guests. Includes five games\, two drinks\, and lunch. This is an excellent opportunity to invite gusts to enjoy themselves and see some of what makes our Kiwanis Club so special.

Now\, on with the committee volunteering. \nAll forty committees for next year have been established and each has a volunteer leader. Now it is your turn. Each and every member of our Club\, and we have very active members in our Club\, each and every member of our Club can volunteer for as many committees as they wish. Just contact each individual Chair of the committees you are interested in joining. Or\, just fill in a Committee Volunteer form available at our September Club meetings. Note\, and this is important\, we are scrubbing the Directory to eliminate ghost committee members (names previously listed on a committee for people who have not been actively participating). Consequently\, this is important too\, we will not automatically carry over a name of a committee member from last year’s Directory\, you must re-volunteer.

Strategies will be presented on how to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all\, regardless of age\, race\, sex\, gender\, sexual orientation\, and socioeconomic status. Tactics will also be presented on how to intervene and address any acts of bias or microaggressions that may arise within our Kiwanis family.
