DESCRIPTION:Meet at 9:00am on April 27th at the Kiwanis Nature Park to help do some Spring planting in the pollinator garden. Come ready to plant or prepare soil for planting. Bring your favorite gloves and garden tools. Hand shovels and gloves are provided. Water and snacks provided. We will plant about 50 plants. Should be finished by 12:00 noon. \nThe garden is waking up and is a complete joy to work on to relieve the stress and tension of everyday life. The birds are singing and the bees are buzzing. Time for us to get buzzing \nThis should be a fun and productive activity for all ages.

SUMMARY:BLUE RIDGE MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:Our Kiwanis Club is providing volunteers again this year to run a Blue Ridge Marathon Aid Station. We will hand out drinks and enthusiastically encourage runners. Our aid station is located part way up Roanoke Mountain. The shift starts at 6:45 and ends around 10:45 AM. You can drive up to the Aid Station by taking the Roanoke Mountain Parkway (on the right off the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of the intersection with Mill Mountain Parkway). Volunteers must be in place before the Blue Ridge Parkway closes at 7:00 AM. \nIf 6:45 AM is too early for you\, we also need at least three (3) Kiwanians to be course marshals and there are volunteer opportunities on other days including Friday night (April 19th) at the welcome concert. Fifteen (15) Kiwanis volunteers are needed overall. \nUse the link below to register. Scroll down to BRP Roanoke Mountain Middle station hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke. DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Kiwanians as we participate in the Wasena Bridge Party on April 13 to promote our Kiwanis Club. Volunteer shifts will run from 3:00-5:30pm and 5:30-8:00pm. We will perform volunteer activities (such as alcohol ticket sales/ID check\, beer pouring\, perimeter security) and we will have a booth to promote our Club. This event is part of our Club’s efforts to Outreach into our community. \nWe are supporting the Wasena Neighborhood Association to celebrate the closing of the bridge in preparation for its replacement. This party will take place on the bridge; it will be closed for the day just for the party. The celebration will be a fun filled family event with activities for the kids and adults\, music\, and food/beverages; all will have the opportunity to use chalk to draw on the bridge surface. \nAs a bonus\, the new 8-foot Kiwanis Larry the Logperch float will make its debut.

DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Kiwanians as we participate in the Daisy Art Parade on April 13 to promote our Kiwanis Club and this year’s KPAD. This is a family fun and easy parade route. We will meet at 11:00am behind the Taubman and proceed down Market Street to Elmwood Park. Come dressed in your Kiwanis shirts and wear a Kiwanis hat or funny/artistic hat. We will march carrying our Kiwanis banner and hand out flyers. This event is part of our Club’s efforts to Outreach into our community. \nAs a bonus\, the new 8-foot Kiwanis Larry the Logperch float will make its debut. \nAfter the parade you can hang out at the park for some activities or go home for a nap before you head over to the Wasena Bridge Party at 3pm.
