SUMMARY:FUN DAY
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Fun Day will be held on Saturday\, June 1 at the Melrose Library and the Envision Center (old Melrose Library) from 11 AM – 3 PM. It will feature multiple agency and organizational activities and entertainment for children and adults\, and food and drink will be provided to an anticipated 1\,000 people in the immediate area. \nTherefore\, we will need 8 – 10 Kiwanians to help with shelter/tent set up and take down\, the distribution of portable cardboard trash cans and other such activities beginning at 8 AM that morning. We also need volunteers throughout the day at a Kiwanis exhibit table and at the Nature Park and the Welcome table. Please sign up for a shift between 8:30 to 11:30; 11:30 to 2:00 or between 1:30 and 3:30. \nFor these purposes\, our volunteer gathering place will be in front of the Melrose Library at 8AM on Saturday\, June 1. \nWe will also need the use of 4 or 5 shelters/tents in an area adjacent to the Envision Center\, so if those are available for use from our membership and friends that day\, that would be extremely helpful. \nHere is the link to the Registration Form: https://forms.office.com/r/urBM79wMdm

SUMMARY:NATURE PARK GARDEN PLANTING
DESCRIPTION:Meet at 9:00am on April 27th at the Kiwanis Nature Park to help do some Spring planting in the pollinator garden. Come ready to plant or prepare soil for planting. Bring your favorite gloves and garden tools. Hand shovels and gloves are provided. Water and snacks provided. We will plant about 50 plants. Should be finished by 12:00 noon. \nThe garden is waking up and is a complete joy to work on to relieve the stress and tension of everyday life. The birds are singing and the bees are buzzing. Time for us to get buzzing \nThis should be a fun and productive activity for all ages.

SUMMARY:BLUE RIDGE MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:Our Kiwanis Club is providing volunteers again this year to run a Blue Ridge Marathon Aid Station. We will hand out drinks and enthusiastically encourage runners. Our aid station is located part way up Roanoke Mountain. The shift starts at 6:45 and ends around 10:45 AM. You can drive up to the Aid Station by taking the Roanoke Mountain Parkway (on the right off the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of the intersection with Mill Mountain Parkway). Volunteers must be in place before the Blue Ridge Parkway closes at 7:00 AM. \nIf 6:45 AM is too early for you\, we also need at least three (3) Kiwanians to be course marshals and there are volunteer opportunities on other days including Friday night (April 19th) at the welcome concert. Fifteen (15) Kiwanis volunteers are needed overall. \nUse the link below to register. Scroll down to BRP Roanoke Mountain Middle station hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke. Check the box and click the Volunteer button. This will take you to the registration page. The Task Password is “kiwanis” all lower case.
