Volunteers are being recruited for shifts to staff our booth. \nThis vibrant gathering is dedicated to promoting sustainability and building community connections. Featuring eco-conscious vendors\, talented local artisans\, diverse businesses\, live entertainment\, and engaging activities for children\, the event inspires environmental stewardship and fosters a sense of togetherness. The 2025 Earth Day theme\, “Our Power\, Our Planet\,” emphasizing the collective responsibility to transition to renewable energy sources and create a sustainable future.

SUMMARY:BLUE RIDGE MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:Our Kiwanis Club is providing volunteers again this year to run a Blue Ridge Marathon Aid Station. We will hand out drinks and enthusiastically encourage runners. Our aid station is located part way up Roanoke Mountain. The shift starts at 6:45 and ends around 10:45 AM. You can drive up to the Aid Station by taking the Roanoke Mountain Parkway (on the right off the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of the intersection with Mill Mountain Parkway). Volunteers must be in place before the Blue Ridge Parkway closes at 7:00 AM. \nUse the link below to register. Scroll down to BRP Roanoke Mountain Middle station hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke. Check the box and click the Volunteer button. This will take you to the registration page. The Task Password is “kiwanis” all lower case. If you would like to sign up for a different task\, scroll up to see other opportunities (no Task Password needed for those). SUMMARY:SOCIAL - Mill Mountain Theater
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a social evening on March 13 at the Mill Mountain Theater. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served on the second floor of the Center In The Square building just outside of the Harrison Museum beginning at 6:00pm. Waitress will be performed in the Trinkle Main Stage theater at 7:30pm. The cost is TBD for Kiwanis Club members\, family\, friends\, and guests. \nWaitress\, The Musical is based on the 2007 film of the same name\, with a book by Jessie Nelson and music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles. The musical follows Jenna Hunterson\, a waitress and expert pie maker at Joe’s Diner\, who finds herself in an unfulfilling marriage to her controlling husband\, Earl. When Jenna discovers she’s pregnant\, she begins to re-evaluate her life and dreams of escape. Encouraged by her quirky fellow waitresses\, Dawn and Becky\, and supported by an unexpected romantic connection with her gynecologist\, Dr. Pomatter\, Jenna starts to find her way to a new beginning. The show is celebrated for its emotional depth\, witty dialogue\, and catchy\, soulful songs that explore themes of love\, resilience\, and self-discovery.
