DESCRIPTION:We are looking for a big crowd of Kiwanis members and the public to attend the Mill Mountain Star Dedication ceremony. We will be unveiling to the public the new plaque honoring Susan Williams (the Executive Director of LOA who was attacked and killed in February 2025 while helping someone in need). \nSusan spent her life in service to those less fortunate\, the forgotten\, and the underserved. Her dedication to supporting the\nvulnerable population shone through her passionate advocacy for Meals on Wheels. She championed efforts to ensure that homebound individuals received nutritious meals and also a vital social connect. May Susan’s legacy inspire future generations  to lead with passion and serve their community with unwavering  dedication \nThe Mayor and other dignitaries are expected. The press is invited. The dedication ceremony begins at 10:00am at the Star visitor platform. \nThis is an excellent opportunity to invite a guest to see some of what makes our Club special.

DESCRIPTION:Join members of our Environment Committee and the Clean Valley Council\, to cleanup a three mile stretch of the Lick Run Greenway on July 12 from 8:30am-11:30am. Meet at 202 R. R. Wilkinson Ave.\, N.W.\, Roanoke Va 24016 (Washington Park parking lot). Bring/Wear comfortable clothes that protect you from bugs\, brush\, the sun\, etc. Gloves are advisable for picking up trash\, etc. Trash pickers and vests will be available; water will also be provided.
